Kimco shopping centers have seen a flurry of activity this past holiday season. From tree and menorah lightings to meet and greets with Santa, Kimco centers across the country hosted free seasonal events for the entire community. Let’s take a look at some of the great events that have already taken place. Have you attended any? Leave us a note in the comments below.

Merchants Walk (Lakeland, FL)

Starting off at Merchants Walk, we had Santa’s Village fundraiser that supported Helping Homeless Veterans from November 29 through December 4. Community members throughout the Lakeland area brought food items to donate and children had the opportunity to walk through Santa’s Village and visit with Santa and his reindeer. It was a wonderful event that benefitted a great cause.

Braelinn Village (Peachtree City, GA)

On November 25, Santa arrived at Braelinn Village’s Winter Wonderland. Carolers set the mood with holiday classics while children took photos with Santa and created sand art crafts with their friends. The cookies and hot cocoa were a hit, and so were Santa’s reindeer.

Crossroads Plaza (Cary, NC)

The International Holiday Fair at Crossroads Plaza was a success on December 10. From learning about different cultural holiday traditions on Learning Lab 360’s virtual reality tour bus to enjoying games and music with Santa, it was a fun time for all. While some guests rode on the Santa Express Train, others took carriage rides around the center to get in the holiday spirit.

Suburban Square (Ardmore, PA)

Santa and Mrs. Claus visited Suburban Square on Saturday, December 2. Families welcomed the couple with lavish holiday decorations strewn about the center. Carolers even made an appearance and put guests in the Christmas spirit with classic holiday songs. It was a magical afternoon for all as children enjoyed photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, crafts, and music.

Kentlands Market Square (Gaithersburg, MD)

Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, Maryland got in the holiday spirit early with a successful tree lighting on December 6, complete with a beautiful performance by an acapella group and a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus himself! It was a wonderful event to kick off the holiday season.

The center also hosted Chanukah Wonderland, a two-week event that began on December 3 and concluded December 17. The event featured a family movie night with fresh falafel, Chanukah puppet crafts and necklace making, make-your-own dreidel photo frames, and much more. The highlight of Chanukah Wonderland was the Menorah Fire Truck Parade, with a four-foot menorah atop the truck, on Wednesday, December 13.

River Hill Village Center (Clarksville, MD)

Nearby in Clarksville, Maryland, the River Hill Village Center hosted a delightful menorah lighting on Tuesday, December 12. With music, dancing, sufganiyot (doughnuts), latkes, chocolate coins, and an exciting raffle, the lighting ceremony was nothing less than a hit.

River Hill also hosted a Breakfast with Santa event that began with Santa’s arrival on a firetruck. Breakfast foods, coffee, and socializing with Santa created a fun morning for the entire family.

Marketplace at Factoria (Bellevue, WA)

The Holiday Spectacular at Marketplace at Factoria took place on the first three Saturdays of December, with 1,600 total attendees. Each event featured live musical performances, games, crafts, face painting, and free photos with Santa. The highlight of each day were the grand prizes: tickets to a Maroon 5 concert (accommodations included), a $1,000 shopping spree, merchant gift cards, and free gifts for the whole family.

Westlake Shopping Center (Daly City, CA)

On December 9, Westlake Shopping Center was busy hosting its holiday Frozen-themed Snow Day featuring snow characters, princesses, balloon art, face painting, and holiday music. Attendees were especially pleased with the appearance of Santa and real snow (despite it being in sunny California) at the event.

Anaheim Plaza (Anaheim, CA)

Kimco’s Anaheim Plaza hosted a holiday event on Saturday, December 16. Featuring photos with Santa, balloon art, crafts, a raffle with prizes, and a DJ, the event was a success. Many families came out to support the community and see what the center had to offer this holiday season—a win-win for all.

Santee Trolley Square (Santee, CA)

The city of Santee had its 15th annual Holiday Lighting Celebration at Santee Trolley Square on Friday, November 17. The event featured live music, holiday crafts, snow sledding by Rise City Church, costumed characters, photos with Santa, horse-drawn trolley and wagon rides, a mini express train, a petting zoo, the Santee fire truck, and an abundance of carolers who put everyone in the holiday spirit.

The beautiful evergreen tree lit up the shopping center at the start of the ceremony and was accompanied by carolers singing joyful Christmas songs.

Christown Spectrum (Phoenix, AZ)

The Christown Cringles Workshop at Christown Spectrum captured the true spirit of Christmas on Saturday, December 2. The event kicked off at the center with caricatures, a storytime station, face painting, balloon art, and photos with Christmas characters and Santa Claus. Overall, the workshop was a huge success thanks to everyone that came out to support our community! Watch the videos below for a behind-the-scenes look at the event and coverage from local TV station, ABC 15.

From our Kimco family to yours, we hope you had a wonderful holiday season!
