Kimco and SoDo District light up SoDo Shopping Center
Our shopping centers across the country have been offering all sorts of holiday fun this season — everything from tree lighting ceremonies and selfies with Santa to train rides and ice carnivals. Sunday, Dec. 4 was “Light Up SoDo Day” in Orlando, Florida. Why? SoDo District’s Main Street event of the same name was held at Kimco’s SoDo Shopping Center — and it was a humongous holiday hangout!
Light Up SoDo had activities for the entire family to enjoy. We lit a Christmas tree in the shopping center’s plaza as “snow” fell. Businesses sponsored attractions like the Trackless Train and Bounce House, offered free gift wrapping, and showcased wreath making. A yoga demonstration, face painting, a caricature artist, Disney Princesses, a DJ, and a beer garden also helped spread holiday cheer.
There were live performances, too, including the Orlando Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society; the Delaney Baptist Hand Bell Choir; Central Florida Community Arts Choir; two choirs from The Christ School; and Boone High School’s two choirs.
Santa arrived under the twinkling lights from decorated balconies of the Lofts at SoDo residences, and the shopping center’s tenants decorated their storefronts. Light Up SoDo was truly a winter wonderland of fun and family entertainment — watch the video below and see for yourself!
